Get Well Card with some EncourageInk Words

I made this for a friend of mine who is seriously ill. She may be suffering from kidney failure due to the dye that was injected during a CT scan. We have learned that this dye, used also in other tests, such as, angiograms, heart caths, MRI's, & others (just about any test where they want to see something in your body better), can destroy your kidneys, especially if you are not fully hydrated. Unless you are going to be put to sleep you need to drink water even if they tell you not to, the only reason they don't want you to drink water (or anything) is because you may get nauseated and possibly throw up but that is nothing if it saves your kidneys. Some people have a serious allergic reaction to this dye, also. We need to consider very seriously before we let these doctors put us through all these tests. Do we really need them?
If you know Jeses Christ as your personal Savior, please pray for her complete recovery. This is really scary.
"I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge--that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. The card was made using the 'Thoughts & Prayers' & 'Fifth Avenue Floral' stamp sets from Stampin' Up! The card stock used is Very Vanilla, Melon Mambo and Old Olive, all SU!. The roses were water colored with the new In-colors, Melon Mambo & Crushed Curry, from Stampin' Up! The center rose is popped-up using glue dots. The decorative edge was made with the Eyelet Border punch also SU!

What Kind of House Will You Build for Me, God asks?

For we are God's fellow workers; you are God's field, God's building.
By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds.
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If any man builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, his work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each man's work. If what he has built survives, he will receive his reward. Calla's from My DH's Garden

Aren't these gorgeous? I picked these from our flower garden, right outside the front door. The purple Calla's are some my husband bought for me in 2004 for Valentine's Day, then he planted them in the flower garden and now they have spread through out the garden and are just beautiful. The yellow and orange calla's are just some more he bought and planted in the flower garden on the bank beside the drive and they have the most beautiful foliage. The leaves are broad with yellow flecks through out, I should have picked some of them to go in the arrangement.

Birthday Card Bloomin' Beautiful

This card, bookmark and post-it note holder were all stamped with the Bloomin' Beautiful Stamp Set from Stampin' Up! I love this stamp set. I used every stamp in the set to make this birthday card + for my granddaughter. I card stocks used are Very Vanilla, Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze. Makes me want to be on the beach having a chocolate ice cream :). Especially since it is very hot here in Tennessee today and the humidity is even worse. The ink I used is Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze and Chocolate Chip all classic SU! Stamp pads. I used the stamp pads to do the water coloring, also, with my trusty blender pen. I just love my blender pens, they can be used to watercolor with the stamp pads, watercolor pencils, watercolor crayons, Stampin' Pastels, Stampin' Write markers, they are so quick and easy to use, no water, no mess.
My granddaughter is beautiful, intelligent, witty and very personable. She graduated from high school June 7th and is headed for college this fall. We wish her all the very best and pray that she will allow God to direct her steps.

These are the beautiful flowers that my Dear Husband grows in our flower gardens, with the help of the Lord, after all God does provide the rain and the sunshine and he created everything.

My husband flew to Dallas for our granddaughter's graduation from high school so I made this card for her. I used the Fifth Avenue Floral Stampin' Up! stamp set. It is one of my favorites.

I heat embossed the roses on vellum and then watercolored them with my 'Real Red' Classic Stamp Pad and blender pen. I sponged white pigment ink on the back of the other roses so they would show up a little more on the 'Real Red' Card Stock.

Mother's Day and Get Well Cards

Well, I am finally getting around to posting my Mother's Day Cards and a Get Well card I made for a friend who is recovering from pancreatic cancer and needs your prayers. Enjoy!

Today's EncouagInk Words - Psalm 107:17-22, Jeremiah 9:22-26

Don't you ever wonder why you have to suffer, I know lately I have been wondering that a lot because I have been going through a lot of physical pain which usually leads me to mental anguish. I usually go to the Word of God during these times because I know that He is my source of all truth. This morning I was lead to a devotional in the book Breakfast for the Soul compiled by Judith Couchman. The devotional is:

There Is a Balm

"Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician? --Jeremiah the Prophet

[In Gilead] as balm was produced which was known not only for its healing properties but also for its cosmetic benefits.
Gilead, however, was not only known for the balm it produced. It was also known as a place where people fled when they were in trouble. Jacob fled there when being pursued by the Philistines. And David fled there when being pursued by Absalom. Under Moses, it was declared a city of refuge.
O Beloved, as a child of God, where do you run in the time of trouble? Where is your city of refuge? Where is your Gilead?
Over and over again the psalmist describes the varied states of distress in which God's people found themselves. As you read, the tension build, relived only byt the words, "Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses" (Psal 107:13 nas).
Twice we read this phrase, and then we come to verse 17:"Fools, because of their rebellious way, and because of their iniquities, were afflicted. Their soul abhorred all kinds of food; and they drew near to the gates of death. Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions". Psalm 107:17-20 NAS
There it is! The Word of God that can heal the soul. You--anyone--can be delivered from your pit of despair because there is a Balm in Gilead, there is a Great Physician there!
In Jeremiah's day God's people had committed two evils. First they had forsaken God, the fountain of living waters. Second, they had hewn for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns, which wouldn't hold water. In other words, they had turned from God and His ways to the flesh and its ways. They did not draw from Him that which is essential for life--living water.
A cistern is simply a place to store something, usually water. What you put into a cistern is what you get out of it. In contrast, a wellspring has an unseen source from which you draw. The people of Jeremiah's day had forsaken the fountain of living waters for broken cisterns which couldn't even hold water! We do the same thing when we turn from the Word of God to the counsel and wisdom of man for healing our hurts.
You can be healed if you will be healed His way. You can be healed if you will run to Calvary, your city of refuge. Remember, there is a Balm in Gilead and there is a Physician there.

Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be

saved, for you are the one I praise. --Jeremiah 17:14 NIV
There is healing through the blood of Christ and deliverance

EncourageInk Word for the Day

This is the Word of God that was given to me yesterday. Most people just want to hear pleasant things, some seem to think an encouraging word is always pleasant but that isn't always the case. We need to be challenged to do what God desires, I know I do. God desires obedience and we need to be encouraged to obey His Word.

Ephesians 4:22 "You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; 23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds; 24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. 25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 "In your anger do not sin": Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold. 28 He who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with his own hands, that he may have something to share with those in need. 29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. 31 Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. 32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.

Rustic Rooster - Hostess Set Level 2

Well this is my 2nd post today, I have got to learn how this works (blogging) because it is taking me a lot of time just to get back to my blog sight to enter my next blog. But I am determined to learn how this works. I believe you can teach and old dog new tricks (LOL).

The card base above is Riding Hood Red and is distressed by tearing the bottom of the front of the card and then using my Basis Brown ink pad to antique the edges (it is also sponged on the piece with the rooster stamped on it). The rooster from SS Rustic Rooster is stamped on Very Vanilla CS with the Black StazOn Ink Pad because I used my water color pencils to color the rooster and the blender pen to finish it. The StazOn Ink Pad will not smear when used with the blender pen. The scalloped piece coming out from behind the rooster is made with Chocolate Chip CS and the SU Eyelet Border Punch (isn't it beautiful). All the stamps are SU except the greeting; it and the background paper are from HL, I think. All the green on the card are in SU Old Olive.

I had to get a little creative to make the two little accents on the left edge of the card. The CC piece at the top is an outty corner from punching a SU Scalloped Square and the tab on the side is made by putting a small strip of paper in my corner rounder to round the ends then I used to antique brass brads to attach it to the front of the card and the adhered it with adhesive on the back. I thought it was funny that my husband, who usually gives words of praise for my creations, didn't like this card until I added these last two little accents.

Nature Silhouettes

"This is the day that the Lord has made and I will rejoice and be glad in it."

This morning when I went to the kitchen, as I usually do, I looked out the back door window and saw that there was a gentle rain falling. I just gave thanks to the Lord for a few minutes because it was the perfect rain for the plants and seeds Dan had planted yesterday in the garden. I love this time of year when the spring rains come and make the whole world look so clean. The dogwoods are in full bloom and they are brilliant against the vibrant green of the new leaves and the wet forest floor and the salmon azaleas border the backyard, it is beautiful. Maybe I'll post a photo but they are never as gorgeous as the real thing.

You may think this odd but since I have started stamping color has more meaning to me. The picture I described above makes me want to make a card with the colors whisper white, kiwi kiss, close to cocoa and cameo coral. Well, now for the cards that I made above. I used Not Quite Navy for the card and Old Olive, Whisper White, and Sahara Sand CS for the layers. I stamped the images from Nature Silhouettes in Classic Close to Cocoa ink on the SS. I used the stamp from my free stamp set I got during Sale-a-Bration for the "congratulations" on the card on the left which I stamped in OO on WW. I used the Versamark Stamp Pad to stamp the Happy Birthday on the OO CS. Just let me say that I love the Versamark Stamp pad because it always gives me the shade just darker than my cardstock (a watermark). I made these on Friday and have adopted the card making strategy of making more than one card at a time so that scraps are minimized. With this strategy hopefully I will build up my card supply so they will be ready when I need them, of course there will always be those time when I have to make a card that fits that special person's taste but that doesn't mean I can't make two cards using the same card stock and ink just different stamp sets or DSP (SU designer series paper). I have had a hard time getting this setup so it is late in the day and I need to get to bed so tomorrow hopefully I will get to do a real post and put some pictures on hear of the cards I made the week.
